CHARACTER NAME: Zhongli
CANON: Genshin Impact
CANON POINT: 3.2
AGE: 6,000+
HISTORY: preferred link to wiki.
CRAU: n/a

PERSONALITY:

He's a kind and mysterious individual that enjoys tea, good stories, and history and culture. He is the type that can easily listen as much as talk and rarely turns anyone away. He helps andpeirce those that need it, an is basically overall an average nice (old) man at face value.

+ patient & in control: as Zhongli is a god that is over six thousand years old, his scale of time does not fall among that of most mortals. This, along with countless experiences, have taught him the value of patience and control of emotions. This allows Zhongli to observe situations and individuals past their surface rather easily. His discipline has extended to many things, but patience in particular is something that the geo Archon has to often executed as a judge and jury. As Rex Lapis, he became the go-to for even other deities when conflicts could not be resolved.

+ loyal and responsible: Zhongli's loyalty is first and foremost to his country, Liyue. His time as the geo Archon has made him understand that loyalty and responsibility go hand-in-hand on a grand scale. However, his loyalty is also something that he can extend to those that earn it. Although he is not quick to trust or commit, once he does there is no turning back. As the god of contracts, he never has broken a contract of any kind and is of the view that a breech in contract is just as bad as any other type of betrayal possible. The loyalty and responsibly that contracts facilitate are vital pieces to success and prosperity and he acts accordingly as he would expect others to. He does no take kindly to contacts if any kind being broken (and thus they have become an integral part of his city's prosperity, however, especially ones with him. He does not believe in compromise or exceptions once things are set in stone.

+ unbiased and attentive: Having lived as long as he has, Zhongli has become very adept at seeing things past 'right' or 'wrong.' He understands there are at least two sides to every story an that the only way to deliver fairness is to not be swayed by his own preconceptions and the biased of others. This has made him an incredibly respected judge to disagreements— he had given very little reason for those that come to him to doubt his decision is the final decision as well as the 'correct' one. His neutrality in emotional feelings also helps him notice things that others may not of a situation, an that with his perfect recall memory has allowed him to keep track of countless ceremonies, ritually, an other traditions within Liyue that are all by forgotten by everybody else.

- stubborn and arrogant: while his preservence is certainly a strength, yit also can easily extend to be a weaknesses for Zhongli. He has come to make a deciding and see it through, refusing to make exceptions or consider alternatives. This is not just due to his time as an Archon: even before he was a ruler, hiss strength as Morax left little room for commodity from adversaries that objected. Since he has never lost a battle, he is also unintentionally arrogant: he would not see himself as such if it were pointed out to him because his way of being the right way has always been the outcome of his situating whether through use of brute force an strength or his wisdom as a ruler. This arrogance is dangerous, however, especially in a place like this new world where he does not have access to abilities he has had his entire existence. Defeat and humility are rather unknown to him.

- disconnected and lacking emotional understanding: by far, though, Zhongli's biggest weakness comes from the fact he is not human. Not only is he not human, he never bothered to learn and understand humans beyond them being weak and in need of protection. Unlike his counterpart during three Archon war, Guizhong, he never stayed from this stance. Alright shut often armored to get him to see humans for more, she was the only one of the two that made the effort to best amongst humans an understand them. Zhongli refers to himself as the 'brawn' to Guizhong's 'brains' it seems that he saw little reason for he himself to do what Guizhong could do better.

After Guizhong passed on, Zhongli spent his long years attempting to follow the wishes of Guizhong in terms of the people of Liyue but is shown to many years later have failed to reach a true understanding. As a god that now wishes to write as a mortal and live amongst humans, he has hoped to finally be able to discover what has eluded him for so long.

Since he does not well underdtand what itvis to be human, he has trouble unstained why certain individuals react the way they do to what r does. The most obvious example was with Childe,
when it was revealed Zhongli was well aware of Childe's true goal. Childe obvious felt betrayed on some level by Zhongli, but Zhongli had never intended to betray him and therefore was unable to insurance what would make him feel such a way (afterall, it was nothing personal.)

He is slowly learning to better express himself with human emotions, but even then he hides away what he's feeling and makes an effort to never let anyone understand what he feels about a situation. Emotions and attachment have been extremely painful for him with the losses of those he cares for, so while he works to better connect with humans, he is not very willing to open up to them in turn.

POWERS:
  • Geokinesis: can create, destroy and manipulate any form of rock and rock-infused soil. He is a physics breaker like most OP gacha characters. He can create all sorts of weapons out of geo elemental energy as well as constructs that resonate to amplify damage. I can... go into more detail if you like, but I don't really see him using them much unless this game is going to turn into a war game. Since I can't have his powers without AC Rewards, anyway, I figured I could just detail what he's getting back then and the limitations. However, if you prefer I do it beforehand, I'll absolutely add them!

  • Jade Barrier: Barrier that protects from physical and elemental damage (including supernatural phenomena.) It can be broken in certain circumstances by extremely powerful attacks. Can be used offensively, and can be corroded through if enemies have such an ability. (although in game it only lasts for a certain amount of time, he can hold a jade barrier indefinitely.)
  • Supernatural speed, ability, stamina, strength, dexterity, endurance, and constitution.
  • Weapon Mastery: highly proficient with spears and all other weapons in combat, as well throwing really big rocks (and smaller ones, too.)
extra abilities: he is a species that is called an Adeptus, which is a type of god in Genshin. His human form is a vessel he's created. His actual true form is unknown, although it's mainly believed it to be a creature that is half-qilin and half-dragon. He is capable of switching between these forms at will, normally, as well as shifting his appearance to anyone and anything (ex: a woman, an old man, etc.) the only contingency is that his eyes always remain the same color.

INVENTORY: his clothes, his fake vision accessory that doesn't do shit even when he has his powers, his wallet from Hu Tao that he got for his birthday.

THEMES: Earth/Stone/Rock, Commerce/Trade (contractual obligations), Dragons, Tradition and Ceremony, History/Culture, rocks (gems and earth minerals), Parting Rites (funeral rites and the dead), isolation, law and order, mountains, justice (specifically an eye-for-an-eye style justice.)
    KINKLIST: here
OPT-OUTS: none, I'll run with anything.

Job History: (All quotes taken from the wiki, which are direct game lore, I didn't know how else to describe his duties better.).

    Funeral Parlor Consultant:
    • "Though no one knows where Zhongli is from, he is a master of courtesy and rules. His grasp of Liyue's traditions is superior to that of any scholar. From his seat at Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, he performs all manner of rituals. Proper clothing, auspicious timing, locations and appliances, observances and regulations, all such things can be left in his hands without a care."

    • "A mysterious expert contracted by the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. Extremely knowledgeable in all things."
    • "The Hus of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, who have been in this business for 77 generations, are the masters of handling funerals. However, Hu Tao, the current owner of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, primarily focuses on the art of sending mortals on their way. For the various ceremonies for sending adepti off, Hu Tao usually employs the help of a friend in more or less the same business. That person's name is Zhongli. The adepti have been with Liyue for millennia, but only a handful have ascended in the past three thousand years, which means that everything regarding the traditions now only exists in texts. This is not something one would likely witness twice in their entire lifetime. Not even the most particular and learned of researchers or scholars could find one fault in Wangsheng Funeral Parlor's ceremonies for sending adepti off. Everything must be perfect, from the costumes, the time, the place, the items, the weather, the scheduled length, the size of the permitted audience, to the stature, profession, and age of said audience. Nothing can be overlooked. When folk describe Zhongli as "living history," the latter usually only smiles and sighs. "I... just have a good memory."
    • Has also mastered the art of getting everyone else to pay for him even in the most expensive and eccentric situations.
    • Despite not being part of his job and having no mora on him ever, incredibly knowledgeable about finance, commerce, and their values. ...As well as everything else, as stated earlier.
    Geo Archon of Contracts:

"In his long life, he has met countless people, and shall meet countless more still. As they say: the waters change course, but the mountains move not." - THE RAIDEN SHOGUN.

    • master of contract creation.
    • defending Liyue and its people.
    • Descended once a year to give council to the Qixing for the coming year.

    • created Teyvat's currency, Mora.

    • guided humanity through the years to not only survive but prosper.

Suppressions: Zhongli mainly supressed emotions of hurt, anger, and loneliness. He is learning to better express with human emotions, but even then he hides away what he's feeling and makes an effort to never let anyone understand what he feels about a situation. Emotions and attachment have been extremely painful for him with the losses of those he cares for.

note { There is also argument in fandom that as Morax, Zhongli was originally violent and bloodthirsty due to his Warrior God title and the revelation that Guizhong considered their partnership as him being the "brawn" to her "brains," but there is conflict with Chinese interpretations due to the characters used in Chinese/Japanese that were (at least originally) translated into "God of War." Also, Liyue writers have wrote many fantastical tales, so there is also the suggestion the bloodthirsty nature concept may be from there.

As for my personal take, I have not seen anything official in storyline that he was aggressive/violence/warmongering in his younger days, so I do not play him with the idea he was ever warlike or brutal, but rather a warrior that had intense power and kept his words to use his might in circumstances when they called for it. He is not hesitant about using force to protect what/who he considers important, and was not particularly merciful or forgiving in his actions when they were executed.

Unfortunately, we just don't know enough about him at this time for a really special list, but it is suggested that either corruption and erosion will make him violent and insane. I would go with that in how I play him here, as well.
    Greatest Fear: Erosion. **
Erosion is the withering of rocks due to water/wind/other rocks/debris/dust/time, and so Zhongli also will eventually suffer from it since he basically is the geo elemental in a physical manifestation (aka, is a living rock himself, at least in some degree.) The current manifestation of erosion to us in game is comparable to dementia in terms of losing oneself. He fears losing himself and the memories of those he has cherished, and he fears what he might do to others when he, too, eventually erodes as he will remember not even himself and it basically drives the individual insane. It's not a question of if so much as when. There is no escaping it, not even (or perhaps especially, in this case) for the god of stone.
Greatest Desire: To live out his life as a human being and experience life without the burden of being an archon.

Greatest Regret: The inability to save many of his friends and losing them one by one (continuously, as this has happened before and will happen again.)
